The Laban Syndrome

First of all I want to say how blessed I am for reading this book. It is a privilege to be able to follow even more in my spiritual father’s footsteps, knowing his insight about the topic.

Just as Jacob waited to hear from God when he had to break free and leave, you must also listen to the Spirit of God for when your moment of liberation comes.

If you want to know how the book impacted me, we must start at the beginning. Chapters 1 and 2 were eye-openers because I had never seen Labon syndrome like this before. The way the labon syndrome can distract you in such a subtle manner that you just go with it, meanwhile, you are drifting away from the calling that the Lord has for you. The way of unmasking the Labon syndrome has never been as easy as it is described in the book. But for you to unmask it, you must understand that it is a spirit that works through the personality and choices of people. It works through one’s soul because only the Lord communicates through the spirit. Twelve ways that you can use to identify the Labon in your life are that Labon operates in your credentials, accomplishments, and achievements as its most important source of influence; secondly, it loves money, riches, and wealth. It works hand in hand with the spirit of mammon that focuses on the love of money. Thirdly, it focuses on one’s status and honor. It will always connect to people who have status and honor and want to use it for personal gain. The fourth way the Labon syndrome operates is savvy and opportunistic sensitivity, basically it identifies opportunities and jumps right in the middle of it, regardless of whether it is sent by God or not. Fifthly, Labon loves collecting information and using it to its own benefit, not caring about deceiving people around it. Labon loves to stay neutral, deceiving people into thinking it’s religious, but will stay away from a strong commitment to God …

These are some of the ways you can use to identify the Labon syndrome in your life, because if you want to walk in God’s constellation for your life, you must be able to identify the Labon syndrome for the Lord to set you free. As a covenant son of God through Abraham, you are eligible for the threefold blessing of the Lord that was given to Jacob. The three blessings that were bestowed on Abraham was the blessing were from the Heavenly Father (Gen 12:2-3). The second blessing was for his future. (Gen 17;2-4) . The third blessing was the blessing of identity change (Gen 17:4-5). In order for you to walk in the fullness of God’s plan for your life can only be obtained by walking in your constellation. If you are a new creation in Christ you are planted in a new environment, the local church, to grow and mature in your walk with the Lord, because for you to grow up spiritualy you need to die to self just as a seed falls in the grownd and dies as described in John 12;24. Now that there is a foundation of what the Labon syndrome is and how to spot it, you can start to evaluate your life, looking for where Labon is present, and ask the Lord to set you free from it. But in your walk to freedom, you must be aware not to become a Laban yourself, walking around with a Pharisee heart, being proud of your walk and your discipleship. All the great men came to a fall because of pride in themself.

A Pharisee heart wants to be right and prove other people wrong, and yes, we all have the ability to act in a Pharisee heart if we are not cautious. Now that you have all the means to be set free from Labon, the choice is in your hands; all that is needed is asking and waiting on the Lord to present you with the strategy to be fully set free from Labon. Remember, God is honor-bound to set you free, and because of that, you have the blessing of God in your constellation. When you stand for Him, He will honor, exalt, and promote you. So I will stand on these principles to be set free from Labon in all aspects of my life, so I can walk in the fullness of my constellation. I just hope that everyone will have the opportunity to be set free and walk in the Lord.

Where I have spotted Laban in my life:

There are many parts of my life that Laban had a part in that I did not know of, but one simple one is accomplishments, because I took pride in the accomplishments that I got for sport and work, and so on. The reason why it was such a shock was the fact that I was not prideful to author people, it was for myself, it made me feel worthy of being in people’s presence, and I thought I needed it for people to like me. Therefore, I did not think much of it because it was inside and not constantly displayed to people.

God's constellation for me:

Looking back, there were parts of my life that were part of my constellation, but because of my lack of knowledge of the Labon syndrome, I was oblivious to it. For instance, there was one year in high school when the Lord blessed me and opened paths to me that I did not know of. The doors that was opened to me help me to improve my character so much but I started getting neutral in my walk with the Lord focusing more on the open doors in rugby, athletics and acting that I did not relise that the devil was picking up the bricks that was laid before me and slamming the doors that was opening, shut before I could see the fulness of what the Lord was wanting to show me.
